I think that the current practice of not adding new content to the sub-point releases (e.g., 0.8.1, 0.8.2) is far too limiting. These are new releases, and should be able to have new stuff in them. They should not, however, contain any changes that are not compatible with the main point release; incompatibilities should be reserved for point releases. If we need to backport bug fixes, we can append "a", "b", etc., to the versions: e.g., 0.8.1a is the first bugfix release for 0.8.1. - Ed Leafe
