The content and insight that this wiki provides is only possible through the effort put forward by countless members in the Dabo community. It thrives because of the input of so many different people. We would love for you to contribute thoughts, ideas, and documentation to the wiki. However, there are some simple guidelines that we ask you to follow.
- Page Placement - This is a very important subject. The wiki is often read like a book with many chapters and sub-chapters. It is very important for the page structure of the wiki to follow a logical ordering. Therefore we ask you to use your best judgment in placing pages under subtopics. If for some reason you can't find the proper fit for your particular page, email dabo-dev and we will find a place for it. If you put the page in the wrong place an need to move it, please consult the How To Move Wiki Pages page for tips on how to do this.
- Profanity and Flaming - For those that don't know what Flaming is, it is harsh, berating criticism on a person who posted a wiki page or comment. We will absolutely not tolerate any some of profanity, discrimination, or Flaming. To do so will warrant the immediate suspension of your account. This is not to say that we discourage criticism, we just want it to occur in a discussion like manner, where everyone's opinion is respected. We have had no trouble with this before, so please don't be the one to start.
- Spam and Advertisements - This wiki is meant to provide community written documentation about the Dabo Framework. The wiki shall not be used for Spam or Advertisement purposes. Any content of this nature will be immediately removed and the account will be subjected to a review and possible suspension. We had a problem with this before back when login credentials were not required. Please don't make it a problem again.
- Comments and Refactoring - There are two types of documents on a wiki, live threads and documentation style pages. Every page starts out as a live thread and then, once the conversation has died done, the page then will often undergo at process called refactoring. Refactoring is when a user or users shift though all of the comments and edits and organize all of the opinions into a nice looking document like format. We actively encourage people to post wiki pages and comments. The wiki is nothing without the community. However, just understand that refactoring is a common wiki procedure. If you have an issue with the way a page was refactored, email dabo-dev and we will take a look at it. In addition, it is common courtesy to not refactor a live thread until the activity has died down for several weeks.
- Page Deletion - Page deletion can occur for a number of reasons. Just recently, the entire wiki was refactored and some pages were deleted. Some we junk pages with no content. Some pages were about obsolete parts like the FieldSpecEditor? and DataNav? pages. Some were discussion pages filled with items that have already been implemented. If you feel that a page should be deleted, we ask that you get a community consensus first before doing it. Send an email to dabo-dev stating which page and the reasons to warrant deletion. The entire wiki is backed up, so if you do delete a page by accident send us an email immediately so we can restore it. Changes are only backed up for 15 days, so don't let it fly under the radar.
So these are very simple guidelines to get you on your way to creating wiki pages. Please read the Wiki How To section for tips on formatting, creating, deleting, and moving wiki pages. We thank you for all of the contributions that you make.
